As one of 4 Austrian pilot enterprises, POLOPLAST was selected by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to prepare a sustainability report on the basis of a 7-stage plan. POLOPLAST gladly accepted this challenge and prepared the first sustainability report with support from the WIFI (Austrian Federal Economic Chamber) and the Upper Austrian Ökoberatung (ecological advisory service).
"After 50 years of value oriented corporate management we feel the moment has arrived for us to present a report on which values we have, how we perform in respect of the trio economy, environment and social issues, and what we perceive as our tasks for the future," says Dr. Guntram Bock, commercial manager.
In this sustainability report POLOPLAST demonstrates how the POLOPLAST Group handles business success and a commitment to ecological and social responsibility. The report provides an insight into the vision, strategy and principles of the POLOPLAST Group, introduces the company, and communicates a picture of its performance capability - referred to all three dimensions of sustainability.
In the dimension economy the excellent equity capital base and the annually generated cash flow make it possible to take autonomous commercial decisions for the long-term alignment of the company.
In the dimension environment it is shown that POLOPLAST is one of the environmental pioneers in the sector and achieves considerable success at national and international level as a result of consistent environmental management. Environmentally friendly products for water supply and water disposal are just as much a component of this as are environmentally low-impact processes in the production works and the economical management of resources.
The dimension social issues is ultimately concerned with people and with social responsibility. POLOPLAST clarifies how important human beings are in the striving for sustainability and which opportunities they will be given for further development.
As an internationally active enterprise, PLOPLAST also faces up to its international responsibility. POLOPLAST is a member of TEPPFA (The European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association) and therefore recognises the voluntary obligation accepted by TEPPFA towards the European Union: Europe-wide recycling of the products and the phased changeover to lead-free stabilisers in the processing of PVC.
"Sustainable developments cannot be ordained but can be achieved and implemented only by ourselves as a result of individual and joint change. We regard this as our duty for the future and will make the necessary means available," says Dr. Guntram Bock, commercial manager of the POLOPLAST Group.
