POLOPLAST: POLO-UDS Siphonic Roof Drainage System - BV Brohl Wellpappe in Trier, Germany
The new production facilities of the family business Brohl Wellpappe Display + Verpackung GmbH, which has its headquarters in Mayen, have been established on the site of the Industrial Park Region Trier (IRT) in Föhren/Germany.
This new construction project became necessary, because the location of the previous production plant at Trier Grüneberg did not allow for a further expansion of the facilities or for the optimisation of the production processes.
On a site measuring 62,000 m², new production and warehousing facilities will extend across 20,000 m2 and a two-storey office building with a footprint of 1.500 m² will also be constructed.
POLO-UDS Siphonic Roof Drainage System by POLOPLAST
Faced with the requirement to drain a roof surface measuring 17,300 m2, the installer selected the POLO-UDS Siphonic Roof Drainage System by POLOPLAST. As the window of time for installation was limited to two weeks, the pipe system POLO-KAL NG for the POLO-UDS application represented the ideal solution. This siphonic roof drainage system made of plastic has the significant advantage that is does not require any welding. The push-fit system, the accurate fittings, the factory-inlaid lip ring seal of POLO-KAL NG and the extraction retainer POLO-ASV combined to facilitate a fast and precise assembly. Waiting times during the welding process and the dependency on an auxiliary electrical supply were also eliminated. Availability and logistics – everything came from a single source – proved to be further significant advantages for this construction project, and so the decision was made to use POLO-KAL NG for the above-ground drainage installation as well.
In total, 1,700 running metres of POLO-KAL NG pipes in the dimensions DN 50 to DN 250 and 800 separate fittings were installed during the construction for Brohl Wellpappe. The target date for officially handing over the new „ready-for-use“ packaging plant in Föhren is the 31st December 2009.
